Step Action Details
1 Prepare the Pattern Tear off the layer of white substrate with lines located under the hot drill pattern. This exposes the adhesive side of the design.
2 Position on Garment Place the adhesive paper with the drill pattern onto your clothing in your desired position. Adhesive/sticky side faces DOWN toward the fabric. Press down gently with your hand to secure it in place.
3 Special Step for Large Drills or Mixed Sizes If the drill is relatively large, OR there are several types of drills, OR pieces of different sizes: Turn the clothes upside down and iron from the fabric side (back side) rather than directly on the rhinestones. This protects the drills from direct heat.
4 Set Up the Iron Turn the iron to the highest temperature setting OR the "Cotton" setting (equivalent to approximately 150°C – 180°C / 300°F – 350°F). Add water to the steam iron and open the steam function. Steam helps distribute heat evenly for better adhesion.
5 Prepare the Work Surface Place the garment on a flat operating surface. For a firmer bond, you can place 1-2 layers of thin towel on the work surface under the garment. This provides gentle cushioning and helps the drills press into the fabric.
6 Apply Heat Press the iron firmly onto the hot drill pattern for approximately 10 seconds.
7 For Large Designs If the hot drill pattern is large and your iron cannot cover it all at once: Move the iron repeatedly across different sections of the pattern. Ensure the entire design is evenly heated. Extend the ironing time accordingly (e.g., 15-25 seconds total, moving the iron continuously).
8 Cool Down After ironing, allow the hot drill pattern to cool completely before handling. Do not move or disturb the garment during cooling.
9 Remove the Adhesive Tape Once cooled, tear off the adhesive tape / clear protective film from the surface of the design. Your beautiful DIY hot drill transfer is now complete!

Note:

Due to some fabrics, molten colloid cannot penetrate into the cloth, which will affect the viscosity of hot drilling.

FAQs

1. Is 100% cotton good for heat transfer vinyl (HTV)?

Yes, 100% cotton is one of the best fabrics for HTV. It absorbs heat evenly and allows strong, long-lasting vinyl adhesion.

2. What temperature should I use for pressing?

Most HTV works best at 300–320°F (150–160°C) with medium to firm pressure for 10–15 seconds. Always check your vinyl brand instructions.

3. Will the vinyl peel after washing?

When pressed correctly, HTV bonds strongly to cotton and holds up very well through regular washing.

4. Can I use a home iron instead of a heat press?

Yes, but a heat press provides more even pressure and better long-term results.

5. Do your cotton products shrink?

Our cotton is high quality and designed to minimize shrinkage. Washing before pressing is recommended for best results.

6. Are your products suitable for small businesses?

Absolutely! Our 100% cotton blanks are perfect for print shops, small businesses, and DIY creators.
